Kinabalu National Park – Mt Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, towering over the park at 4,101 metres. This park covers 754 sq kms and has one of the richest and most diverse flora in the world. There are over 1,200 species of wild orchids, countless blooms, mosses and ferns. The park is also a sanctuary for mammals, birds and reptiles.
Sabah State Mosque – a resplendent structure with majestic domes and golden inlay motifs. It serves as a central place of worship for KK’s Muslim population.
Signal Hill – a 15 minute walk from the old quarter of Kota Kinabalu takes you this lookout point from which the whole view of the city is breathtaking.
Poring Hot Springs - is located on the eastern side of Kinabalu park, 49km from Park Headquarters. Poring offers hot mineral water baths, a canopy walkway, a butterfly park and walking trails, as well as a restaurant, rare orchid garden and tropical garden.
Rafflesia Forest Reserve - set in te mountainous Crocker Range, this reserve of rainforest is home to the Rafflesia, the world's largest flower. There is an interesting infromation centre, where maps pinpointing the location of any flowers currently in bloom can be obtained. There are several walking trails and a lookout point.
Kota Belud - home of the famous Bajau horsemen or 'cowboys'. The Sunday market or tamu is a colourful mix of coastal Bajau and Irranun with Kadazandusun agriculturalists. The buffalo market adjacent to the amin tamu is also worth checking out.
