Roadside peddlers and turn-of-the-century shop-houses can be found alongside modern shopping centres in the bustling district of Chinatown. See craftsmen practicing age-old arts and customs like Chinese calligraphy, effigy making, idol carving and joss stick making.

South Bridge Road - was the traditional location for goldsmiths, pawn shops and Chinese medical halls.
Sri Mariamman Temple - built in 1827 and declared a national monument in 1973, it is the oldest and most important of Singapore's Hindu temples.
Temple Street - shop here for souvenirs ranging from silks to lacquer ware and Chinese remedies to beauty treatments.
Chinaman Scholar's Gallery - recreation of a traditional Cantonese home of the 1930's, complete with furniture, photographs and musical instruments.
