Halong Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in the world, covers an area of 1,500 sq. kilometers in the sea off Quang Ninh Province. The bay consists of about 3,000 islands and islets, limestone cliffs and caves set in an emerald sea. UNESCO has recognized Halong Bay as a World's Natural Heritage site.
Inside many of the islands is a world of impressive caves, grottos and tunnels built by wind and tide. Local junks gently sailing among the many islets at sunset offer a romantic setting.
